Accident Scene
My pond was great for skating last week. Two days ago, I was finished my session with my daughter, a friend and her grandson. I removed my skates, put on my boots and decided to have a final shot with the kid's hockey stick. I lost my balance and have sustained a quite serious injury and will be laid up for at least six weeks.
I suffered a dislocation of my shoulder, tore all the ligaments in the shoulder and have a bone chip floating around. I may require surgery but hope not. My right arm is completely immobilized and is to remain that way for six weeks then will require physiotherapy. I am an extremely active person - some might say hyperactive and this is going to kill me. I have a window commission and have not told the person who commissioned it the state of affairs. I don't think there will be a problem but I was so looking forward to doing it. I was in the process of finishing all the unfinished paintings in the studio so that I could covert it to glass working. I can't drive or do much of anything really, including getting dressed and cooking. I am typing with one hand, of course. My son is going to move in for a couple of weeks but he works extremely long hours and doesn't get home till 8 or 9 pm. Capricorns aren't supposed to fall and end up like this. You need a chalk outline on the pond. CSI PEI.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks for the laugh. I need a few.
So this is were it happend, wow I hope you don't blame it on the lovely pond, accidents happen on moments we never suspect!! This is a nice capture though!!
Mary MacADNski: No, it wasn't the ponds fault but mine for wearing slippery boots on ice.
Hope you recover quickly.
Mary MacADNski: It will be six weeks immobilized and maybe surgery. i have one good hand though.
Oh Mary, I feel very sorry for you. Just a small consolation, it could have been worse! Nobody is to blame in this case, this is just a stupid accident. Recover well Mary
Mary MacADNski: It truly could have been worse. I have extremely strong bones and the dr. couldn't believe i didn't break any. It is dislocated in a unusual way where it is usually accompanied by the breakage of bones. Thanks, Richard
capricorns everywhere are going through a rough time with a saturn retrograde on. coupled with mars backtracking as well, it does make life challenging. wish you good health and healing, Mary
Mary MacADNski: just moments ago i wrote to an astrologer friend and asked her if something was up. It seems to be more than only capricorns. A lot of bad things are happening to a lot of my friends right now. Thanks for that info and the good wishes.
Oh dear you poor thing...sounds very painful and unpleasant. I had surgery last March which left me immobilsed for about 4 weeks, and I'm afraid I'll be re-joining you shortly in the immobilised arm centre, unfortunately mine is surgery again. I'll be typing one handed after I get out of hospital sometime mid Jan...we can keep each other company until Spring.
Mary MacADNski: Typing one handed is a pain isn't it. Using the mouse is hard too. Luckily i have always been a bit ambidextreous so can eat, write, etc fairly easily. No way i'm going to finish paintings with my left hand though. I feel really bad about the window commission but believe i can do it later.
Is your problem your shoulder too?
It looks so innocent Mary. It was just bad luck. I hope you can get through the 6 weeks without going stir crazy.
Mary MacADNski: You're right. Here's a happy photo of right before:
http://bp1.blogger.com/_RWRA_W3zaOs/R3REYW0epeI/AAAAAAAACt0/iFy8sZaZX7I/s1600-h/DSC00551.JPG I'm focusing on what I can do and I can do lots.
It can be sheer torture for an active person like yourself to suddenly face mobility restrictions. Hopefully you won't let it get you down to much. You may be surprised at what you can achieve with a little thought and a big hunk of determination.
Just 6 short weeks and then you can look back and have a giggle about it.
Mary MacADNski: I'm not giggling yet. A friend truly needs my support today and I can't drive. The day to day I will manage but situations like that will be trying.
Hi again, I know I have your email but couldn't find it easily so thought I'd reply here if that's OK. No mine's not my shoulder, I was diagnosed a few months back with LMS or Leiyo Myo Sarcoma a rare form of muscle cancer. I have a large tumour in my right arm that has to be removed with a course of radio or chemo therapy afterward. It was diagnosed as benign earlier this year...but the path labs found subsequently that it was in fact malignant. BUT the surgeons and oncologist all seem very positive about the long term prognosis and I feel fine so fingers crossed. I'll let you know how it goes.
Mary MacADNski: You sound like you're in a positive space about such an unpleasant situation. You're very lucky that the correct diagnosis was eventually made. So many people I know are going through some pretty heavy things lately. It's all very concerning to me. Yes, it will be one hand typing for us for awhile.
Oh Mary we on S/C will keep you company if you want. I was telling my friend about our accident today.
I know you will be out walking as soon as is possible. Best wishes too you
Mary MacADNski: Thank you, Tracy. You're a great bunch - very supportive and kind. The fact that I can't drive means I will be home a great deal and can use the company.
Now then. ( they say that in Yorkshire when they are about to lecture you). Now then. You are a capricorn and my daughter Helen is a capricorn. Capricorns always battle on to the end and succeed. I'm a Gemini so I bleat and moan if I sprain my finger! I think you know we are thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery. I might even send you some terrible jokes!
Good song by the way, and the picture ain't half bad
Mary MacADNski: I just wrote in another blog about a good joke. A friend called me earlier and asked me if I'd like to go skating. LOL Now that was funny! We Capricorns do battle on. The trouble is, we're not supposed to fall down. I like this Glen Hansard fellow. Haven't heard a lot of his songs but like the ones I have heard.
Gorgeous capture Mary.
I know what it is like to be laid up for a while and it gets more fustrating as time goes on, but it is important not to overdo it or this will delay healing. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Mary MacADNski: Thank you, Aussie. It can only make me stronger, right?
Oh Mary! I am so sorry to here this! It is obvious that you are not the sort of person who will take kindly to being immobilized. However, you must do what you have to do to get your shoulder fixed, frustrating though it may be. Hope you make a swift recovery. (:o)
Mary MacADNski: Thank you for those good wishes and yes, I will do what I have to do to heal.
So much for the star signs. You just do your exercises and whatever and it will come right. My daughter is a physio and she says so
Ah these stupid accidents do happen and at such nice places as well.
Mary MacADNski: I need a good while of immobility before physio but I will certainly do what it takes. I've just realized just how much I love my right arm.
Damn! That hurts!
I fell onto an elbow, some years back, and dislocated my shoulder...I can still recall how painful it was. Athough I have regained full use, I still get pains in the shoulder and it sometimes makes strange noises when I do stuff. Young kid like you will probably get over this in a couple of weeks, and be good as new..hope so anway, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: I'm prob. older than you but I will mend well. I have a superb immune system and am very healthy.
Oh! Mary! Siento que hayas tenido éste accidente. Parece importante! Espero te recuperes muy pronto!
Oh! Mary! I feel that you have had this one accident. It seems important! I hope you recover in a moment!
Mary MacADNski: I will be at least six weeks with my arm and shoulder immobilized. It may require surgery. I will survive.
Seré por lo menos seis semanas con mi brazo y hombro inmovilizados. Puede requerir cirugía. Sobreviviré.
Hi Mary !
I just learn your accident and I'm really sorry for you; Hope you're better now and that it will be - very soon - a bad remember. A big kiss to help you
Mary MacADNski: I visit the surgeon on Tuesday. Not out of the woods yet. Thank you for kisses. I miss my mother's kisses to make it better. I make use of these as well: http://media.putfile.com/Besame-Mucho21
I had missed this post while I was in Michigan, Mary, even though I did hear all about it after I came back. I am sooooo sorry you have had to endure this. I won't say a word about how sometimes we over-active people have to be slowed down. Not a word.
Mary MacADNski: We overactive people must suffer more than most. So many people have said to relax, eat bonbons and read. I have to be creating something...all the time. It's just the was I am.
