Stunned Chickadee
I took this photo back in April of a nuthatch that had hit my window. Today's is a chickadee that hit my dad's window. After a few minutes rest, off he flew, back to the feeders.

Oh, it's a darling little thing. The detail, particularly on the feathers, is wonderful.
Mary MacADNski: Chickadees are my favorite birds.
One of the most sickening of sounds is the thump of bird against a window of the house as you are eating breakfast!
In this case it appears no harm was done, but you got the benefit of an opportunity for a wonderful close-up of this pretty little thing. Great opportunistic shot, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: A nuthatch, now a chickadee; what's next? It is sad that it happens but as you say, the perfect opportunity for a close up.
Gorgeous detail in the feathers!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, polarbear. I loved your golden leaves today.
Poor, poor thing but he looks none the worse for it, Mary. He was stunned long enough for you to get your photo op. Fabulous detail on the feathers!
Does this mean you're back home yet?
Mary MacADNski: He flew off in a couple of minutes. I've seen them stunned for much longer.
I am back home. Just got home from work and am off to bed. Good night.
she's so sweet......and such great details here....lovely capture, Mary
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, moi (or toi)
Lovely detail on the bird, I think it has been cropped alittle too tight however.
Mary MacADNski: I didn't crop it but took lots of photos and chose the one that was closest so that the feather detail was apparent.
The poor little thing. Love the shot though Mary well captured.
Mary MacADNski: He wasn't stunned very long, just a minute or so, then flew off to the feeders.
Excellent detail. So that is how you get them to sit still for good pictures
Bird on a wire
Mary MacADNski: LOL Seems to work well, Louis.
Looks like our Coal Tit. Great picture.
Mary MacADNski: I believe they are in the same family.
So Cuuuute !!!
Have a nice Week End !!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks. You have a nice weekend too.
The feathers are really something. What a great shot Mary. I love the grey tones.
Mary MacADNski: They're my favorite birds!
He is adorable. Great shot!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Helen. He is very sweet and I'm glad he was ok.
Que bueno! Estaba dormido? No se como te acercaste tanto!
That good! It was slept? Not as you approached so much!
Mary MacADNski: It had hit the window and was stunned, or partially unconscious for a few minutes. That is how I was able to get so close. It flew away after a few minutes and went back to the feeders.
Había golpeado la ventana y fue atontado, o parcialmente inconsciente por algunos minutos. Ése es cómo podía conseguir así que cercano. Voló lejos después de algunos minutos y fue de nuevo a los alimentadores.
Lovely detail. I especially like the feet. All the best, Dave.
Mary MacADNski: I like that you like something different than the others. Most people tended to notice the feathers.
What a sweet, scared and stressed birdie, I feel so sorry for these poor creatures!
Mary MacADNski: S/he flew off unharmed....right back to the feeders.
Been catching up with what I have missed, and I`m so pleased I found this one. What an utter delight! (:o)
Mary MacADNski: They're my absolute favorite birds!
Love, love, love this Chickadee shot Mary! Stunned or not, the photo is great and I love the details of the peeling paint and how his claws are hanging on to it.
Mary MacADNski: This is a shot of a nuthatch in the same predicament at my house last winter. It's the only way you can get that close to them.

The clarity is amazing.
Mary MacADNski: The birds were momentarily stunned so I was able to get up close.
